on my site/server i host allot of downloads, the problem i am having is other websites "Hotlinking" my downloads(instead of uploading files to there own host they are just adding the links from my downloads to there site).

i am fully aware of which sites are "hotlinking" since it shows in the logs of brswebweaver of where the request for the files are coming from but i am unable to prevent these sites(unless i turn the server off)from stealing downloads and bandwidth.

i have tried ip banning but that has no effect and i have tried allot of scripts that claim to be able to prevent "hotlinking" of downloads but all have faild and mostly apache based.

Hotlinking is a bandwidth killer(bandwidth stealing) and i dont think its fair that other sites/servers should be allowd to "hotlink" othere websites downloads without there permision.

the request i am asking for and im sure anyone else who runs a public website and gets allot of visitors would be gratefull of an option to prevent "hotlinking" on brswebweaver -- is it at all possible to have an option to prevent other websites linking my downloads to there websites for there visitors to download files from my server through there website?

keep up the good work and thank for your time

gisgums09,

WebWeaver has nothing to do with hotlinking from other sites, it also has nothing to do with any arcade or game. Whatever the arcade or game is that you are referring to may be where you need to direct your inquiry towards.

Who owns a site and has never heard of Hotlinking???
Sounds very suspicious. Did they agree to stop hotlinking?
